The library is a marvelous place. It is filled with adventure inside of every book. My kids loved going to the library when they were little. Now, they are grown up, and we still go to the library. The library has a lot to offer kids and every member of the family. It is a great place to hangout during the summer.
The library has book clubs, and books of every genre. The library has board books for babies, audio books, e-books, and books for everyone in the family.

Summer Reading Programs/ Other Programs
Every summer, my kids participated in the fabulous summer reading programs at our local library. They loved the rewards. (As their mom, I loved the reward of their reading skills improving because they read so many books.) Check out your local library’s summer reading program. You will be glad you did.
The library also offers other fun programs for kids such as a reptile show, a puppet show, art classes, Lego robotics, and so much more. The library is a fun place to go.

A Happy Environment That Promotes The Love of Literacy
I can’t go to the library without picking up a book; your kids can’t either. The library is filled with shelves and shelves of books that beckon- “Pick me up and read me.”
-
Technology
The library has computers just for kids with color coded keys. The library is filled with the latest educational games and technology. Free internet.
This is a fabulous time to meet other moms with kids the same age as you. (Who knows, you might make a friend.) Also, it is wonderful for your children to hear other people read aloud. Usually, the people that read aloud during story hour make the stories lively and fun which instills a love for literacy.
Bonus: It is free! Yes, that’s right; it’s free, healthy entertainment that will grow and develop your child’s brain.
“The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.”
― Albert Einstein
Go ahead and schedule a day that you will take your kids to the library each week. It will help the summer fly by, it is air conditioned or heated, it is free entertainment, and it makes marvelous memories. (I have friends that fondly describe their summer days spent at the library with their moms.) You, too, can be that mom.
What do you like best about the library? I’d love to know. 🙂

Pamela,
Love this post! Aren’t we blessed to live in a country where we have libraries? I’m so glad for the summer programs. That Albert Einstein is some smart guy. 🙂

Your blog grabbed my attention because I was a big advocate for literacy. I found books of topics my kids were interested in. My last child was a challenge because of a learning disability but we are on the upswing.
Denise,
I’m so glad that the post grabbed your attention.
So happy to hear that you are on the upswing now. I’m sure that makes you a happy momma. 🙂
I hope you stop by again.

Pamela, YES!!! YES!!!! Having been a children’s librarian after being a primary-age teacher, reading and more reading is the KEY!! And libraries are such a great place to spend part of the summer. Besides all of the reasons above, most are air conditioned, especially if they are in summer-hot spots!
Linda,
I’m so glad you enjoyed the article. Since you are both a teacher and librarian, I know that you “get it”. Yay! 🙂
