Writing a book is an adventure—Winston Churchill
I’m so excited to find these free writing websites for kids and share them with you. Often, kids say that they don’t like to write. These websites are sure to help them fuel their creativity and motivate them to write.
When I talk about writing, I am talking about the act of getting thoughts from your head onto paper. I’m not talking about handwriting. (Although, that is a valuable skill too.) These story writing websites for kids are a wonderful way for your children to publish their writing too.

This is a new website that allows your kids to create and illustrate books with ease. Once their stories are created, they can publish it. If you choose to have your child’s book published, there is a cost; however, creating a story using these fun tools is free.

This site was created by a mom that wanted to develop a program for her daughter that loved to write stories. It is a place that makes creating a story easy with the ability to share with others or purchase a finished product. You do have to create a user account that makes you a member. Becoming a member gives you free access to creating stories, comics, illustrations and the ability to publish your own work and make your own special products

Your kids create their own story books by selecting characters and building the story. It is free, but requires a log in. Then, they give you the option to purchase your child’s published book. It is easy to use and you don’t have to purchase the books.

This link takes you to an on-line story frame. Your kids select and theme and fill in the blanks. This takes away the task of thinking of a whole story on their own which is overwhelming for many kids.

For free, your kids can create 2 stories a week. There are other options, but I like the free option, because your kids can write comics and create scenes to a movie and so much more. There are thousands of graphics to choose from.
Bonus: Comic Creator
Kids use the character, Arthur, to create a comic strip. They add their own dialogue and thought bubbles. It can be saved as a jpg file or printed. It is a great way to get your kids to get create as well as read. Age: Early Elementary
